Easy Yoga Socks Knitting Pattern

Do you long to knit socks but are put off by DPN knitting needles and awkward heel shaping?

Here we have an easy yoga socks free knitting pattern that solves all your problems.

Knit in wonderfully soft, self striping Rico Melange Chunky and on straight needles, you can whip up these yoga socks in no time.

No heels, no toes, knit flat.  Easy peasy and a great beginner knitter project!

Materials Required

1 pair each of 5.5 and 6mm needles

Approx 30g of Rico Creative Melange Chunky or similar yarn

Scissors and needle for sewing up

Abbreviations and Terminology 

K – knit

P – purl

Rep – repeat

Patt – pattern

1×1 rib – (k1,p1) across the entire row

Stocking stitch – knit all right side rows and purl all wrong side rows

Tension Gauge 

Over 5cm in stocking stitch on 6mm needles – 7 stitches and 10 rows

Finished Measurements

Width approx 10cm and length 20cm.

Pattern (make 2)

When casting on and off, leave long yarn tails for sewing up the seams.

With 5.5mm needles cast on 28 stitches.

Work 4 rows of 1×1 rib.

Switch to 6mm needles.

Work 20 rows in stocking stitch.  

Form heel

1) Cast off 14 stitches and k the rest of the row.

2) P 14, cast on 14.

Make sure that you have 28 stitches on the needle once more.

Work 10 rows of stocking stitch.

Change to 6mm needles.

Work 4 rows of 1×1 rib and then cast off in 1×1 rib.

Make up

Sew up seams using cast on and cast off yarn. Do not sew up the hole for the heel.  Weave in all ends.
