Pink Cable Headband – Free Knitting Pattern

Today we are proud to bring you this fabulous free cable headband knitting pattern. It is a fast and fairly simple design, and extra wide headband for keeping you super warm and yet not squishing down your hair like a hat would.

This headband is an excerpt from this Super Chunky knitting pattern booklet.

Super Chunky Cables Headband Free Knitting Pattern

Materials Required

1 pair of 10mm straight needles.

1 cable needle.

Approx 100g Super Chunky Yarn (yarn used in photo is Millamia Naturally Soft Super Chunky).

Scissors and needle for sewing up.

Abbreviations and Terminology 

K – knit

P – purl

C6B – slip 3 stitches on to cable needle and hold the cable needle to the back of the work.  Knit 3 stitches from the main piece and then the 3 stitches from the cable needle.

C6F – slip 3 stitches on to cable needle and hold the cable needle to the front of the work.  Knit 3 stitches from the main piece and then the 3 stitches from the cable needle.

Tension Gauge 

Over 2cm in pattern on 10mm needles – 2 stitches and 2 rows.

Finished Measurements

Width 15cm and length 45cm.

Pattern for Headband

Cast on 16 stitches.

Work the following 10 row pattern until work is of desired length (suggested 45cm).  Finish with an even numbered, wrong side row.

  3. K
  4. K3, p10, k3
  5. K7, C6B, k3
  6. K3, p10, k3
  7. K
  8. K3,p10, k3
  9. K3, C6F, k7
  10. K3, p10, k3

Cast off in knit stitch and sew the cast on and cast off ends together.  

Secure and weave in all ends.
