Here at The Knitting Times, we love showcasing the work of talented artists and makers. While our usual focus is knitting, yarn, and the wonderful things that can be created with a pair of needles, we also know that creativity comes in many different forms.
For knitters, making something is rarely just about the finished item. A handmade creation has character, tells a story, and often has a personality all of its own. That’s why I was intrigued to discover the work of a custom puppet maker and wondered: asides from creativity, what does puppetry have in common with knitting?
The answer came in the form of one very stylish puppet wearing a knitted blue turtleneck jumper. It was the perfect reminder that the world of handmade crafts is full of unexpected connections and that even a tiny knitted garment can help bring a character to life.
So, who is this little fella in his super stylish jumper? Let’s meet the puppet, the makers behind him, and discover how creativity, craftsmanship, and a little bit of knitting came together.

Meet Little Andy. For those of you who reside in the USA, you may recognise the little fella with his real self, Emmy Award-winning television and talk show host, producer and author, the one and only Andy Cohen.
The puppet was created by the Furry Puppet Studio, a custom puppet company based in Soho, New York. The company joined up with CNN to create tiny versions of Mr Cohen as well as Anderson Cooper to promote the TV company’s New Year event.
The stylish little knitted turtleneck jumper really showcases the individual, fashionable, smart style associated with his human sidekick, Andy Cohen.

The Furry Puppet Studio is responsible for making a multitude of puppets which can only be described as breath taking in their mastery and creativity. Mascots, characters for stage and screen, lookalikes and brand new personalities are included in the fantastic, highly skilled repertoire.
Below is a gallery of some of the stunning custom puppets, all made by hand by highly skilled artists.

As for the little turtleneck jumper, we love it!
And if a puppet ever needs a special hand knit headpiece to help bring them to life, I may know someone who likes to knit a hat or ten thousand… (yes, me).
