Talented Celtic wood artist, Ricky Hughes, is desperately seeking a knitter or knitwear designer to make him a very special garment.
Ricky displays his spectacular Celtic wooden art at craft fairs and festivals in Scotland, and would absolutely love to wear the sort of Orkney hood that craftsman would sport back in mediaeval times.
He has searched for a knitting pattern but to no avail and is hoping that someone who knits and designs can help him with this very special commission piece.
You can see below a photo of the only one Orkney hood that is in existence. The garment is situated in a museum in Scotland, and Ricky longs for a replica to add that extra bit of fun and authenticity at his craft shows.

Ricky stresses that the finished hood that he seeks does not have to be an exact copy of the museum piece. He just would love something similar so that he stands out in the crowd and adds a special something extra when he displays his amazing work.
To give you a better feel for the sort of woodwork that Ricky makes, please see the gallery below. Thank you to Ricky for supplying these photos of his work.

Talented Ricky has been searching for a long while for an Orkney hood, and would be amazingly grateful to find a fellow crafts person who would be willing and able to design and knit his one.
You can contact Ricky via his email address rfh197@yahoo.co.uk and you can find him and his work via the Odinseye instagram account. Ricky also has an Ebay store which you can find here.
Thank you so much for your interest in Ricky’s work and in making the Orkney hood.
