Knitting Pattern for Easy Frilled Wrist Warmers

With 6mm needles cast on 96 stitches.

Starting with a k row, work stocking stitch for 6 rows.

(K2tog) across row (48)

(P2tog) across row (24)

Casting on 4 times more stitches than needed for the main piece creates an easy to knit frill.

On the 24 stitches that remain, work the following 20 rows.  This will form a check stitch pattern.

Rows 1-4: *k4, p4; repeat from * to end of row

Rows 5-8: *p4, k4; repeat from * to end of row

Rows 9-12: *k4, p4; repeat from * to end of row

Rows 13-16: *p4, k4; repeat from * to end of row

Rows 17-20: *k4, p4; repeat from * to end of row

Work 2 x 2 rib for 4 rows.

Cast off in 2 x 2 rib.

Sew up side seam, leaving hole for thumb if wanted.

Make 2 hand warmers, ensuring that thumb holes are positioned correctly for both left and right hand.

Tip: Sew up bottom and top most parts of seams and then sew up the rest with the mitten on your hand.  You can then see exactly where thumb holes need to be.
