Being a huge lover of mosaic knitting, I am totally delighted to be reviewing the awesome knitting book, Mosaic Knitting Workshop by Ashleigh Wempe.

This book is brand new to the market, released on 6 June 2023, and I am so excited to have a copy.

The full title of the book is Mosaic Knitting Workshop: Modern Geometric Accessories for You and Your Home. The book contains 13 really interesting and fun knitting patterns. These projects are useful and really wonderful to knit, and in my opinion the patterns alone make this mosaic knitting book really good value for money.

Book Review

Mosaic Knitting Workshop by Ashleigh Wempe is the best introduction to mosaic knitting that I have come across.

Personally, I am not new to mosaic knitting but in now way am I an expert. I have used this (actually really easy) colourwork technique in some of my hat and cowl designs, and love how it gives really unique colour pops to your knitting work.

The great thing about mosaic knitting is that you don’t have to worry about carrying floats across the back of your work, or getting all in a tangle as can happen with Fair Isle or intarsia knitting. Mosaic is just about slipping stitches across, and sort of framing the other colours in your knitting project.

Mosaic knitting is a fast, easy and extremely addictive form of incorporating colour and style into your craft work.

The Mosaic Knitting Workshop book teaches you all the basics of mosaic knitting, and you will learn how to read and understand the charts needed for this colour work knitting technique. The book explains how to choose colours and knitting needles, and what I love best is that the introductory chapters don’t waffle on and on. The information is clear, concise, easy to understand and we are soon presented with plenty of lovely projects for us to sink our needles into.
