Yarns needed to knit this newborn beanie hat

The cute baby hat is knit with aran yarn, this is known as worsted in the USA. You can use any aran yarn that works with 5mm needles and that is soft enough for a baby.

The hat shown in the main photo is Sirdar Snuggly Aran Rainbow Drops. I love this yarn as it is so cheerful and soft to the touch. This seems to be very popular yarn and difficult to locate. I have found some here on Ebay.

If you prefer a plain aran yarn for babies, I can recommend King Cole Comfort Aran. Soft and yet hard wearing, this aran yarn is available in classic baby shades.

If you live in the USA, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to baby aran and worsted yarns. I particularly love Bundle of Joy by Lion Brand for baby garment knitting projects.

I made a super colourful version of this aran hat, too. This yarn was purchased from Ali Express, actually. They call it 5 strand milk cotton. It is a gorgeous, soft yarn which I believe is a mixture of cotton and acrylic. This is the same yarn available on Ebay. There is a picture of the colourful hat, alongside the Sirdar version, below. Both hats are very soft to the touch.

Whichever aran or worsted yarn you decide to use to make this cute baby hat, I am sure you will enjoy the fast and easy pattern. Read on to find the free pattern below.

I think I already said you need a pair of 5mm knitting needles to knit the hat too, and of course scissors and a sewing up needle.
