Hello and welcome to another yarn review from The Knitting Times.

Today we will be having a look at Hayfield Baby Blossom Chunky, admittedly one of my favourite chunky yarns for the younger generation. I can tell you already that this will be a favourable review.

If you have never used this yummy yarn before, read on to find out more about it.

About Hayfield Baby Blossom Chunky

Hayfield Baby Blossom Chunky is the chunky version of the “Blossom”‘ range of yarns from Hayfield. A British yarn company, Hayfield is part of the DMC company, which also sells the well known Sirdar range of yarns.

Hayfield Blossom yarns are colourful and self patterning. A super soft acrylic designed for babies and children, the yarn has a DK as well as the chunky variety that we will review today.

Hayfield describes the yarn as follows:

About This Yarn

Baby Blossom Chunky is a pretty, self patterning chunky yarn, available in a range of bright and pasten colours. Each of the gorgeous shades has a dainty flower print effect and stripe pattern that appears as you knit! This quick knit acrylic nylon blend is as fun to knit with as it is to wear. Machine washable, it is ideal for little ones.

What’s it like to work with?

This patterned yarn adds stripes and tiny little flowers and leaves to your knits. Work with textured stitches to create unique chunky pieces.

What is it best for?

This pretty self-patterning yarn is a dream for cardigans, hats, and accessories for little ones. As a standard chunky weight yarn, it will knit to all Hayfield and Sirdar chunky patterns.

Review of Hayfield Baby Blossom Chunky

You can see below a sample of knitting with shade 371 (Tiger Lily) of Hayfield Bay Blossom Chunky.

This is a really soft yarn, and you can see how it self stripes as well as creating a pretty Fair Isle flower type pattern.

I think this yarn would make the most beautiful baby blankets. A simple stocking stitch pattern would produce something very special looking without much effort required.

I am a big fan of self patterning yarns. I think they make knitting, especially large projects, so much fun as you can see the stripes and patterns forming as you work. You never know quite how the finished article will work out.

I strongly recommend this yarn if you like to make clothes or blankets for babies and children.

The colour range is stunning – from pastels to neutrals, there is a shade to suit everyone.
