I just finished knitting this lovely adult sized hat and have decided to share the knitting pattern with you.
It was really easy to knit and is a perfect project to make whilst watching TV.
The hat is knit in the round on circular needles and is a perfect in the round design for people who have never knit in the round before. Knitting in the round means no sewing up, and only minimal finishing work. It saves so much time.
The hat is knit from chunky yarn and you can use any chunky yarn that is suitable for 6 to 6.5mm knitting needles.

What you need to knit the chunky roll brim hat
You will need approximately 50g of chunky yarn to knit the hat. Exact amounts will depend upon the yarn used.
I used two different yarns. The navy blue brim was Stylecraft Special Chunky and for the main part of the hat I used a very unusual yarn called Katia Funk. This yarn has is self striping with varying textures and I loved watching the pattern unfold.
I bought the Stylecraft Chunky here at The Knitting Network. This is in my opinion the best low price basic chunky yarn out there.
The Katia Funk was purchased here on Etsy.
You will need a pair of circular 7mm knitting needles which are 40cm long. I used Knitpro Nova Needles which are metal and very lightweight in the hands. You will also need some scissors and a needle for sewing up your work to make your roll brim hat.

To knit the hat, cast on 60 stitches in colour 1 onto your circular needle. Join to knit in the round being careful not to twist your work.
K 4 rows.
Change to colour 2 and continue to K (plain knitting on circular needles forms stocking stitch).
Knit until your work measures 20cm from the cast on edge.
Work the following shaping round:
*k1, k2tog* across round.
K one more round.
Now work *k2tog* until you can no longer work any more on your needle. It will simply be too tight to continue. Cut yarn, thread this through the remaining stitches, pull to gather the top and secure. Weave in all your ends and that is is, a wonderful, easy to wear, simple to kit roll brim hat which is perfect for the autumn and winter months.
